Inaugural Issue: Navigating Crisis – Policy, Ethics, and the Modern State

The Editorial Board is honored to introduce the first issue of the Canadian Journal of Critical Challenges (CJCC). In a world defined by "permacrisis," the need for rigorous, critical inquiry into how institutions respond to unprecedented challenges has never been greater. CJCC is dedicated to being a leading voice for scholars and practitioners who interrogate the structures of power, the ethics of governance, and the pathways to societal resilience.

This inaugural issue, "Navigating Crisis," brings together interdisciplinary perspectives to address the most significant hurdles facing modern societies. We explore the complexities of global health infrastructure, the ethics of emerging technologies in governance, and the social dynamics of migration and displacement.

Key Themes in this Issue:

  • Institutional Resilience: How democratic structures withstand global systemic shocks.

  • Ethics of Governance: Critical looks at policy decisions during times of national emergency.

  • Social Vulnerability: Analyzing the impact of critical challenges on marginalized populations.

  • Technological Frontiers: The role of data and AI in state security and public policy.

We invite our readers to engage with these critical dialogues as we work toward "Advancing Global Research Excellence" in the face of our era's greatest challenges.
