Abstract

This article investigates the tension between global linguistic homogenization and the survival of minority languages. As English and other "super-central" languages dominate digital and economic spheres, regional dialects and indigenous languages face unprecedented pressure. This study utilizes a sociolinguistic framework to evaluate the effectiveness of recent language policies in diverse geopolitical contexts. By examining the relationship between linguistic diversity and social cohesion, the research argues that language preservation is not merely a cultural endeavor but a fundamental requirement for social equity. This inaugural contribution to the Journal of Language & Society (JLS) establishes a framework for future research into the role of speech communities in shaping modern societal structures.
