The advent of CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing has fundamentally altered the landscape of biotechnology and clinical therapeutics. This article examines the current state of genomic innovation in Canada, focusing on the transition from experimental research to personalized clinical applications. The study provides a technical analysis of "off-target" effects and delivery mechanisms within the Canadian regulatory framework. By evaluating the socio-ethical implications of germline vs. somatic editing, the research highlights the necessity of a robust national dialogue on biosecurity and genetic equity. This contribution to CJSTI serves as a critical review of the technologies poised to redefine the treatment of hereditary diseases in the coming decade.
